Wisdom Tooth Extraction Kanata Ontario

At Kanata Lakes Dental, we can extract teeth when it becomes necessary to intervene or to prepare for restorative work. A tooth extraction may be required for a number of reasons, including severe infection or decay, heavy bone loss, impacted wisdom teeth or damage from an accident or injury. Extractions are usually done in preparation for an implant or denture device.
Wisdom teeth are most often extracted during your 20s, and depending on a person’s case they may have any of the four wisdom teeth extracted or none. During your examination and routine checkups, we will make sure to carefully monitor their development. They are the last molars to come in, and an impacted wisdom tooth can push against other teeth and create a series of problems that are better avoided with an early extraction. When wisdom teeth fail to emerge in the proper position, such as growing out at an angle or if there is not enough room in your mouth, they can cause you extreme discomfort as well as inflammation and infection. An extraction prevents these as well as the time and expense they would cause otherwise.

While an extraction is usually reserved as a last option in many cases, we can ensure that the affected tooth is properly removed without pain. During your in-depth examination, we will use modern dental tools, such as digital X-rays, to determine the best course of action. We will go over your treatment options with you to ensure your confidence and understanding. If a tooth does have to be removed, you will be given an anesthetic or a different sedative to reduce any pain or discomfort. We will be glad to explain all of the sedation methods to further ensure your confidence.
